Huh ?

Those of you that are my Facebook friends probably have already heard about this, but my hearings going all to shit.  I’ve had a history of ear problems all my life. As a child, my ears were constantly infected and swollen shut. My parents drug me from doctor to doctor trying to stop the endless ear drops, antibiotics and monthly hearing tests. The doctors predicted that I’d be completely deaf by the time I was 10. Thankfully they were wrong, I sort of grew out of it and went on with my life.

Over the past year, I’ve noticed that I’m constantly saying:

Huh ?”

"Pardon ?"

“Excuse me ?”

“What ?”

If the person speaks fast, speaks low, slurs, mumbles and doesn’t enunciate, I’m toast. It’s embarrassing. I’ve taken to smiling and just nodding (often to God knows what). I don’t hear myself being paged at work and I miss many announcements on the intercom. So, my ass has being seeing an audiologist and ear, nose and throat doctor about my shitty hearing.

I’m going to pick out hearing-aids (that’s right…2) tomorrow afternoon.  Luckily, I’d only have to wear them at work. I hear well enough to get by at home. Oh boy, I just keep becoming more and more of a good catch, don’t I?

I can just see the header for my new personal ad:

This HIV + Guy Loves Walks On the Beach, Guys With Big Guns And Hearing Aids.

Ya’ll be good and speak up, damn it !
